A Special Learning Environment

With a deeply dedicated team and staff, including six teachers alongside a special education teacher and director, we’re proud of our 4:1 and 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio – and our greater community of dedicated members and intergenerational support that creates a special learning environment unique to Chebeague Island School.

“ … individualized care and attention”

“Hands-on education, music, art, and field trips we all look forward to! As a parent, I can’t speak highly enough about knowing that our children, 2nd and 5th graders, receive individualized care and attention while they’re away from us at school. They come home everyday with warm, touching stories about their teachers and what they learned together.”

“ … special to us”

There’s history here. Taking our grandson on his field trip, just as I took our son nearly 30 years ago, is special to us as Chebeague Island community members and personal supporters of the Chebeague Island School.

Quality of Life on Chebeague Island

Chebeague Island is an active community of residents with deep emotional connections to the island who are committed to sustaining the vitality of our community. With a history of more than 250 years, many islanders are descended from our earliest settlers! On July 1, 2007 the Town of Chebeague Island became the newest town in Maine when it seceded from mainland Cumberland.

Today, we’re a community of innovation and ingenuity with an island infrastructure that includes: school, fire and rescue departments, library, recreation center, assisted living facility, day care, community hall, church, historical society, restaurants, hotels, and its own internet provider.
